We are PowerAfrika Labs

PowerAfrika Labs is a research, design, and build lab with focus on smart, sustainable, inclusive, and green cities. Our work speaks into the needs of individuals, communities and the environment.

As a lab, we developed the first AI-powered smart bench learning assistant to assist students with group discussions and aid teachers with assessments. The lab has invested over 1,000 hours in research and development of 3D construction printing technology to help scale affordable housing. We are currently in an ongoing fundraising campaign for the development of a 3D construction printer. To advance sustainable buildings, the lab developed the first accessible housing library and provides training on green building design.

Our team boasts a proven track record of successful collaborations with leading developmental finance institutions (DFIs), including the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ), on groundbreaking sustainable housing projects. This expertise, combined with our recognition as the 2022 POTRAZ Universal Services Fund (USF) Innovator of the Year Award winner in Zimbabwe, underscores our commitment to excellence. PAL specializes in sustainable infrastructure development, focusing on solutions that are not only smart and inclusive but also resilient to the impacts of climate change
